Natural remedies can be found in the Bible and we can discern through studying the natural health principles discussed in God’s word and learn his will for our health. The Bible serves many purposes in our daily lives. It provides details of historical events, poetic songs, God’s laws, prophecies of the future, natural health promotion, and can serve as an instruction book for how to live our lives.

Many Christians, I beleive wrongly profess that God will always heal those that seek him and ask for healing. However, there are a few instances when God has not stepped in to take away the pain and stigma of disease even from his most devout believers (such is the case of Paul with the thorn in the flesh). In these circumstances, we should still continue in faith and prayer; however we need to realize that His ways are not our ways and if he wills it to happen, it is in His time and not our own.
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Isaiah 55:8-9
Jesus is known as the Great Physician because everywhere he went, he met with sinners and healed them of their afflictions. He did this because he is kind and merciful and above all, he wants us to seek Him first.
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. "
Isaiah 53:5
Even though it may not be God's will for complete healing at this time, I think we can benefit from natural remedies found in his word.
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
Romans 12:2
"But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him."
Psalm 4:3
We think differently than the world about marriage, raising our children, sexual morality, entertainment, and our finances; but when it comes to health we side with society and the rest of the world. We fall short at following the Bible’s guidance on natural health, natural remedies, nutrition, healing; physical, mental and emotional health. To be set apart from the world in our mindset on health, we should be seeking prayer first and God's creation to care for the health of our bodies; rather than relying first in man made pharmakeia from medical doctors and drug companies.
Certainly medicine has it's place, such as in emergency medicine. However when it comes to chronic conditions they seem to offer little except palliative care which only masks the symptoms and compounds the original condition; many times even adding to the symptoms with side effects of the drugs causing new symptoms and conditions.
"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"
1Corinthians 6:19
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
Romans 12:1
It is my hope that Christians will reconnect with God’s word and instruction on health and discover natural remedies that are Bible affirming rather than leaving our great physician Jesus Christ out of one of the most crucial aspects of our lives.
